Thank you, Case Keenum. Just when I thought it was time to lose all hope for the Minnesota Vikings 2017 season, you came in an impressed everyone. After Sam Bradford was ruled out for the game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, I was ready to write the season off for the Vikes, especially after Keenum’s performance in Pittsburgh the following week. But my faith has been restored.
The offensive line gave Keenum time to thrown, and he made the most it. Keenum threw for a career high 369 yards and three touchdowns with a passing rating of 142.1 out of 158.3. Keenum outperformed the majority of NFL starting quarterbacks on Sunday. To be fair, it was against an injured Buccaneers defense, but it was still an awesome performance.
God only knows what is happening with Sam Bradford’s knee. Bradford himself doesn’t seem to know, he flew to Florida on Friday to get a second opinion on his knee, but it is said the it was just confirmed the injury is a bone bruise. Head Coach Mike Zimmer came out and said Bradford will start when he’s ready, but the Vikings don’t know when that will be.
If the Vikings can get 80% of what Keenum gave them against the Buccaneers until Bradford is ready to return, the team has a real chance at the playoffs. Maybe this is all a mirage. But at least for another week, the Vikings have hope this season. Hope from an improbable source. Thank you, Case Keenum.
